A New Mexico getaway should be everything: Art, food, culture, comfort, history, and more. We are the cozy home base at Inn of the Turquoise Bear for your next getaway. We often get asked, “Why do people visit Santa Fe?” To that, we answer with this list of the 8 reasons to visit our Santa Fe bed and breakfast:
1. We’re Rated the #4 Bed and Breakfast in the Country
Don’t take our word for it — take TripAdvisor’s word in their recently released Traveler’s Choice Awards Best of the Best 2024, where Inn of the Turquoise Bear rated the #4 bed and breakfast in the country!
The Best of the Best title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel and is awarded to Inn’s, which receives a high volume of “above-and-beyond” reviews from the Tripadvisor community over 12 months. Out of TripAdvisor’s 8 million listings, fewer than 1% achieved this milestone. Needless to say, we are extremely blessed and thankful to have such a strong following and community behind us. Thank you for supporting us and our work — we are lucky to serve you! Read more about some of our other press and awards.

Each breakfast is multi-course, with fruits, juices, smoothies, coffee, pastries, and a hot-served entrée (that can always be subbed with eggs to order or homemade huevos rancheros!).
Breakfast can be enjoyed in your cozy room, in our casual indoor dining space, on our terraced outdoor patio, or packed to go for your next Santa Fe adventure.

4. Unbelievable Natural Landscapes in our Backyard
Santa Fe is lucky to have an incredibly diverse array of natural landscapes in every direction from our centrally located Inn. It has everything from vast deserts to the tall Sangre de Cristo mountains.
There are so many ways to enjoy nature during your time at the Inn. Lace-up your boots and go on a hike, enjoy a picnic from the Turquoise Bear kitchen, horseback ride through the Sangre de Cristo foothills, or simply take time to enjoy our comfortable patio with views of lush gardens and towering pines. Santa Fe is also a hidden gem in the fall, offering some of the best foliage viewing in New Mexico. We are lucky to have enjoyed all four seasons here at the Inn.
Who knew Santa Fe, NM, would be a nature-lovers oasis?
5. Historic & Cultural Significance
In the capital of New Mexico, history is alive and thriving. The arts and culture scene is prevalent in our historic Inn and downtown.
The Inn’s rich history began as the home of famous poet, translator, and essayist Witter Bynner (1881-1968) and has since been passed through many generations of notable and important citizens, colleges, and B&B owners. The legacy of this magnificent property, which is now on the National Register of Historic Places, is at the heart of our stewardship goals as the new owners of the Inn (since 2014).
From the Inn, there are historic destinations in every direction. Santa Fe’s spirit and community are deeply interwoven with the Native American cultures of the Navajo and Pueblo peoples. The city’s rich cultural heritage and unique architecture create a captivating backdrop for history enthusiasts and wanderers alike.
